Role of Curcumin as a Potential Immunomodulator to Adjunct Tuberculosis Treatment in Indonesia

This study aimed to highlight and focus on curcumin’s role in enhancing the body defense mechanism against tuberculosis (TB) infection, using a narrative review. review was identified by four search engines: PubMed, Science Direct, Research Gate, Google Scholar. We found that as an immunomodulator, curcumin reduces production of specific cytokines inhibiting transcription factor. In same mechanism, also activates host macrophages, dendritic maturation, modulation antigen-presenting cell process. Curcumin increases apoptosis defence TB infection. B-cell proliferation downregulates oxidative stress B-cells. As results, is potential immunomodulator complements M. treatment, especially Indonesia. It can be stated proven promising strategy complementing prevention treatment.
